10. Devdutt Padikkal’s 56 (42) against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in 2020
Devdutt Padikkal made his IPL debut for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in 2020 at the Dubai International Stadium. Opening the innings for the Challengers, he scored 56 off 42 with eight fours. Riding on his impactful knock, RCB pocketed a 10-run win against the Orange Army in the end.
9. Gautam Gambhir’s unbeaten 58 (46) against Rajasthan Royals (RR) in 2008
Back in 2008, Delhi Capitals (DC) made their IPL debut with an emphatic nine-wicket win over the Shane Warne-led Rajasthan Royals (RR) at the Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium (now Arun Jaitley Stadium). Chasing a low target of 130, Delhi got a fine contribution from Gautam Gambhir, who took the team home with his unbeaten 58 off 46.
8. Owais Shah’s unbeaten 58 (46) against Deccan Chargers in 2010
Owais Shah made his IPL debut for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in 2010. In the inaugural game of the third IPL edition between KKR and Deccan Chargers in Mumbai, he played an effective knock of an unbeaten 58 off 46 and helped the former to emerge victorious by 11 runs.
7. Swapnil Asnodkar’s 60 (34) against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in 2008
Swapnil Asnodkar broke into IPL in 2008 with the contest between Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Kolkata Knight Riders in Jaipur. Playing his debut game, he produced a rapid knock of 60 off 34 with 10 fours and a maximum. His solid opening knock took RR to a massive score of 196 runs. In his team’s convincing 45-run win, Asnodkar also got the Player of the Match award.
6. Graeme Smith’s 71 (45) against Deccan Chargers in 2008
In the ninth match of the 2008 IPL between Deccan Chargers and RR, Graeme Smith made his debut in the latter’s jersey. Pursuing an enormous target of 215, Smith looked extraordinary with his bat and smashed 71 off just 45. His innings helped the Royals pull off the target with three wickets in hand.
