IPL: Top 5 finds of Kolkata Knight Riders who went on to play for India
KKR also unearthed gems like Iqbal Abdulla, Manvinder Bisla and Rinku Singh among many others but none of them played for the national team.
2. Nitish Rana
The current skipper of the Kolkata Knight Riders is one of the most dependable cricketers for the franchise. In 2023 itself, the Delhi-born cricketer has scored 413 runs in 14 matches and that proves the kind of responsibility he can take. Throughout his KKR career, Rana has been consistent enough, and that’s why KKR spent INR 8 crore to sign the cricketer in the IPL auction 2022.
Notably, the 29-year-old made his India debut against Sri Lanka in the ODI series in 2021. Even though he couldn’t make the most of the opportunity, Rana still has time to prove his worth and get back into the squad. When it comes to the shortest format, Rana played only two matches, scoring 15 runs in the process.
When it comes to his KKR numbers, Rana has played 88 matches for the franchise, scoring 2157 runs at a strike rate of 136.60. Now, if he keeps up with the same form and remains consistent, Rana can very well come back in the T20I set-up, especially when India is considering starting afresh in the shortest format.
