In August-September this year, Asia Cup will be back with the One Day Internationals (ODI) format after four years. This time, Nepal will be part of the continental tournament for the first time as the South Asian country emerged victorious in the ACC Men’s Premier Cup 2023 final against the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

India, Pakistan, and Nepal are placed in Group A, while Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, and Bangladesh are in Group B. The competition is expected to deliver a lot of entertainment to cricket fans. Folks from India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan have always supported their respective teams, and the fan following of these sides on social media sites corroborates that love for the sport is on another level.

5. Afghanistan- More than 3.3 million followers

Afghanistan are active in international cricket since 2009 and in these 14 years, they have made remarkable progress with their incredible performance in white-ball cricket. In 2014, the Afghan side made their debut in the Asia Cup, under Mohamad Nabi’s captaincy and succeeded in beating Bangladesh. 

In the 2018 installment of the Asia Cup, they outclassed Sri Lanka and Bangladesh in the group round and qualified for the Super Four stage. In the Super Four round, they failed to win any games but gave tough competition to India and got the match tied with their sensational batting and bowling efforts.

Afghanistan’s decent performance in ODIs and T20Is has gained them a lot of followers on social media sites. On Facebook, they have got 3 million followers, while on Instagram, they have gained 322k supporters. They have 705k supporters on Twitter as well.
