5 players who might miss out on World Cup 2023 Semi-Final matches due to injury
The ICC World Cup 2023 is down to its last three matches of the knockout stages. After 45 matches in the league stage, four teams qualified for the semis. India finished at No.1 in the points table, winning all nine matches. South Africa came second in the points table, followed by Australia and New Zealand.
India and New Zealand will clash in the first semi-final at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on November 15. South Africa and Australia will face off on November 16 at Eden Gardens in Kolkata. Winners of both the matches will then clash in the grand final in Ahmedabad on November 19.
Players of both teams are readying themselves for these important knockout clashes, but the team management of South Africa, New Zealand, and Australia are facing some questions as some of their cricketers are struggling to get fit in time. There are some important members in all of these three teams who are battling injuries and might miss the semi-final encounters.
5 players who might miss out on ODI World Cup 2023 Semi-Final matches due to injury:
1. Mark Chapman
New Zealand will be facing a tough opponent in India in Mumbai on Wednesday and they might have to do it without Mark Chapman, a brilliant middle-order batter. Chapman, who featured in the first five league games for New Zealand, missed the next few games due to a calf injury.
He missed important games against Australia and South Africa. In seven matches, Chapman has made 82 runs with a strike rate of 124.24 coming lower down the order. He came back in the last two league games for Kiwis and they will hope that his calf injury is healed properly for the India match.
