As we are heading towards the Super 12 stage of the T20 World Cup 2022, the excitement of cricket fans is rising with every passing day. The tournament has provided several moments of joy to cricket fans all around the world with numerous blockbuster contests.

Since the inception of the T20 format, hard hitters have played a vital role, so any laxity from bowlers becomes an opportunity for batters to plunder them by hitting long sixes. In the quickest format of the sport, batters do not shy from taking risks to smash maximums.

In 2007, when the first T20 World Cup was played in South Africa, cricketers such as Yuvraj Singh, Chris Gayle, Misbah-ul-Haq, Matthew Hayden, and Adam Gilchrist delivered some action-packed scenes to fans. These cricketers by opening their arms to hit long sixes not only notched up runs for their teams but also guaranteed the success of the T20 format among fans.

Here's the list of batters who have hit some of the longest sixes in T20 World Cup history:

5. Junaid Siddique (109 m)

In the sixth match of the T20 World Cup 2022, UAE were playing Sri Lanka. Both teams after losing their respective first matches were playing against each other in a battle to advance to the Super 12 stage.

Chasing 153 to win, UAE lost nine of theirbatters for a score of 56. But on the second delivery of the 17th over, Junaid Siddique did something which stupefied everyone. The cricketer known for his right-arm medium fast bowling smashed a maximum that went 109 metres away.

Although UAE got eliminated from the tournament by losing the game against Sri Lanka, the side still had a lot to celebrate with plenty of positives from the match. Earlier, Karthik Meiyappan’s hat-trick in the first innings of the match impressed everyone and later Siddique’s six was no less than a moment to rejoice for the UAE team as the latter turned out to be the 5th longest six in T20 World Cups.

The blazing shot from Junaid was received with surprise and awe as the followers of the sport were not expecting the tailender to setup such a record.
