T20 World Cup 2022: 5 Players who might be dropped based on first week's performances
In seven days of exhilarating cricket at the T20 extravaganza, there have been certain players who have not been able to deliver the goods and might be dropped from the side.
4. Haider Ali
Haider Ali has been an exciting prospect in Pakistan's cricketing circles. He has shown glimpses of power-hitting prowess but has not yet made it big in the international arena. He has featured in 33 T20Is and scored 499 runs at a strike rate of 126.32.
The Men in Green liked what they saw in the 22-year-old and selected him for the marquee tournament. It was a golden chance for Haider to showcase his skills at the grandest stage of them all but he failed miserably at the ongoing T20 World Cup, scoring just two runs in two outings played so far.
Due to the dismal showings, the youngster could be dropped from the XI for the next game. Babar Azam & Co. could pick ace finisher Asif Ali in his place who was Pakistan’s X-factor in the last year’s T20 World Cup which saw him smash 57 runs in six games at a strike rate of 237.50. Also, they even have the option of Khushdil Shah for the middle-order role.
