T20 World Cup 2022: Injured XI of the tournament
Several players have been sidelined due to injury.
5. Daryl Mitchell
Daryl Mitchell got hit on the little finger of his right hand while batting in the nets ahead of the tri-series against Bangladesh and Pakistan in Christchurch. The management had to subsequently rule him out of the series and his involvement in the T20 World Cup was also in doubt at the time.
The player is on course to miss the opening clash against hosts and defending champions Australia. However, head coach Gary Stead is optimistic that Mitchell will be available for their second match against Afghanistan.
The injury meant that the side would without their first choice XI and will take a call on his replacement after taking into account the conditions in Sydney.
