The role of middle-order is quite instrumental in the success of a team. The middle-order batters need to be prepared for any situation be it 5 for 3 or 120 for 2. They need to be versatile enough to adapt accordingly and ensure that the team gets into a better position.

In a marquee tournament like the upcoming T20 World Cup 2022, the performances of the middle-order batters can make or break a team’s campaign. However, every team has stacked its batting unit with some top-quality batters who can ace that role at the T20 extravaganza. Let us look at the possible middle-order combinations for each team and rate them based on their personnel.

8. Afghanistan (Najibullah Zadran, Mohammad Nabi and Azmatullah Omarzai) - 6/10

Najibullah Zadran and Mohammad Nabi have carried the mantle of Afghanistan’s middle-order for a long time. They have absorbed pressure really well for the Afghan side and enabled flamboyant batters like Hazratullah Zazai and Rahmanullah Gurbaz to play with freedom at the top.

The veteran duo has shown its six-hitting prowess time and again and Afghanistan will bank on them to deliver the goods at in the second half of the innings. Zadran has featured in 83 T20Is and scored 1559 runs at a strike rate of 142.89 and Afghan skipper on the other hand has scored 1669 runs in 101 T20I games for his national side at a strike rate of 140.37.

Besides Nabi and Zadran, Afghanistan will have Azmatullah Omarzai in the middle order. However, the seam bowling all-rounder has not been able to impress with the bat in the international arena. The 22-year-old has played 14 matches and has managed to score just 83 runs at a poor strike rate of 95.40. Nabi & Co. have backed him a lot and the youngster would like to repay the faith at the marquee event.
