T20 World Cup 2022: Team-wise youngest player in the tournament

Every cricketer desires to represent their nation at the grandest stage of them all ‘The World Cup’. However, there are only some who are fortunate enough to realize their dream. While it takes an entire lifetime for many players to feature in the marquee event, some of them reach there at a very tender age. There are many talented youngsters who will be featuring in the upcoming T20 World Cup. They may be relatively inexperienced but have established themselves as match-winners in the T20 circuit. This exciting bunch of players will be eager to make a mark in the T20 extravaganza. Let us look at the team-wise youngest player of the tournament: 1. Tristan Stubbs (SA) | DOB - August 14, 2000 Tristan Stubbs has been one of the exciting prospects in South African Cricket. He has been simply outstanding with the bat in the T20 circuit of late. In the CSA T20 challenge this year, the 22-year-old scored 293 runs in seven matches at a remarkable strike rate of 183.12. Stubbs received an international call-up due to impressive performances in the shortest format. In the four innings for the Proteas so far, the wicket-keeper batter has struck at the rate of 216.36. He has shown that he could take even the top-bowling attacks to the cleaners. Stubbs's batting prowess was on display in the recently concluded The Hundred competition where the youngster hit 157 runs in 9 innings at a strike rate of 146.72. His batting exploits have made him one of the sought-after cricketers in the T20 circuit. The most expensive player in SA20 will look to make it big at the T20 World Cup 2022. 2. Naseem Shah (PAK) | DOB - February 15, 2003 Naseem Shah made his T20I debut at the recently culminated Asia Cup 2022 and has been sensational for Pakistan since then. He was drafted into the side in place of an injured Shaheen Afridi and has given the Men in Green an ideal start with the ball. The speedster has made five appearances for his side in the shortest format so far and has taken seven wickets at an economy of 7.66. Naseem has rattled opposition batters with his express pace and has been Pakistan’s tone-setter with the new ball. Australia has been a pacer’s paradise and Naseem could prove to be more lethal in those conditions. The 19-year-old has shown tremendous skill and composure on the big stage. In the Asia Cup game against Afghanistan, he displayed his batting prowess as he struck two consecutive sixes to take his side over the line. Naseem has shown a lot of promise and is Pakistan's star in the making. 3. Arshdeep Singh (IND) | DOB - February 05, 1999 Arshdeep Singh broke into the national side on the back of stellar performances in the Indian Premier League. In the last two seasons for the Punjab Kings, the 23-year-old took 28 wickets in 26 matches at an economy of 7.98 which is phenomenal considering he bowls most of the overs at the death. The Punjab pacer carried his good form to the international circuit. In the 11 appearances for the Men in Blue, he has taken 14 wickets at an economy of 7.38. Arshdeep has displayed his ability to bowl pin-point yorkers at will and this has made him tough to tackle at the fag end of the innings. The left-arm pacer’s arrival has given the Indian bowling attack more variety. Arshdeep’s composure at the death makes him a stand-out bowler and the youngster has been lauded by the team management for his temperament. The team management will hope the yorker-specialist comes good in the upcoming marquee event. 4. Tim David (AUS) | DOB - March 16, 1996 Tim David’s stocks have seen a meteoric rise in the last couple of years. He has become on of the most sought-after finishers in the world in the T20 circuit. This is evident from the fact that the most successful IPL franchise Mumbai Indians spent a whooping 8.25 crore at the 2022 IPL Auction for the Singapore-born and he did not disappoint either. In this year’s IPL, David in nine outings smashed 187 runs at a sensational strike rate of 210.11. Before signing for Australia, he played 14 T20Is for Singapore and aggregated 558 runs at a strike rate of 158.52. The 26-year-old is a genuine power-hitter and is renowned to hit huge sixes. Apart from his finishing prowess, David is quite handy with his off-spin and gives Australia an extra option with the ball. The T20 giant can well be the X-factor for Aaron Finch & Co. coming into the T20 World Cup. 5. Finn Allen (NZ) | DOB - April 22, 1999 Finn Allen has become a renowned name in the T20 circuit in the last couple of years. He has been a destructor with the bat at the top of the order and is known for his fearless style of cricket. In the Super Smash 2021-22, he scored 280 runs in 11 matches for Wellington at an insane strike rate of 200. The swashbuckling cricketer has also been superb for New Zealand in the shortest format. Allen has made 13 appearances for the Blackcaps in the shortest format and scored 334 runs at an amazing strike rate of 169.54. Allen has been entrusted to give his national side quick starts and has done it with perfection. He has been a tone-setter with the bat and the Blackcaps will bank on him to go big at the global tournament in Australia. 6. Harry Brook (ENG) | DOB - February 22, 1999 Harry Brook has been one of the most consistent performers in the T20 circuit. The 23-year-old has shown his worth in T20 competitions around the world. In this year’s Pakistan Super League, he scored 264 runs in 10 innings at an outstanding strike rate of 171.43. Brook also had an outstanding season for Yorkshire in the T20 Blast 2022. He piled up 436 runs in 13 matches at a strike rate of 163.91. Brook has broken into England’s T20 setup and would also represent the Three Lions at the World Cup 2022. Brook has shown that he can play the role of an aggressor in the middle-overs and also a finisher. Hence, he can play the role of a floater in the England batting lineup and can be brought in case of a favourable matchup. 7. Hasan Mahmud (BAN) | DOB - October 12, 1999 Hasan Mahmud has arguably been one of the most promising fast bowlers in the Bangladesh white-ball circuit. The 22-year-old has the ability to clock the speed of over 140 kmph and is known to rattle opposition with express pace. The Laxmipur-born made it into the national team on the back of impressive performances in the domestic circuit and the Bangladesh Premier League. In the 2019-20 season of the BPL, he took ten wickets and gave rival teams a tough time. In total Mahmud has played 25 T20 games and has picked 24 wickets at an economy of 8.05. Mahmud has made three appearances for Bangladesh in the shortest format and has taken three wickets at a splendid economy of 6.58. He also had a great outing for the Bangla Tigers in the ODIs where he took eight wickets in five games. 8. Mohammad Saleem (AFG) | DOB - September 09, 2002 Mohammad Saleem has been a consistent performer in the domestic circuit in the last couple of years. He has been a consistent performer in Afghanistan’s first-class circuit taking 41 wickets in 12 matches at an average of 27.51. Saleem had a great outing for Boost Defenders at the Shpageeza Cricket League 2022. He picked 11 wickets in nine games at an economy of 6.63 and played a crucial role in his team’s road to the Final. Courtesy of the fine showing in the T20 tournament, the youngster has broken into Afghanistan’s squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup. Saleem could be a quite handful in seam-friendly conditions in Australia and would look to put on a great show with the ball.
