T20 World Cup 2022: Ten players who will be playing the tournament for the first time
There are a number of players who will be playing in their inaugural T20 World Cup next month in Australia and some of these players are capable of taking the event by storm.
World Cup - A dream stage for every player in the world. It’s always the ultimate aim of sportspersons to don their country's jersey and thus, we see multiple new talents come up every year with the hope of winning the prestigious trophy for their country.
Now, even though the last T20 World Cup was played just a year back, we are all set to witness new faces on the grandest stage of them all this year again. With the marquee event almost upon us, it will be intriguing to see whether can they create history or will it be another ‘did he really play?’ kind of a situation.
Nevertheless, here are ten cricketers who will play T20 World Cup for the first time -
10. Tristan Stubbs
At just 22 years of age, Tristan Stubbs is being hailed as the future of South African cricket. He is yet to make a name for himself in the international circuit but when it comes to domestic cricket (T20s), Stubbs has already proven his mettle. In 34 domestic T20 games, Stubbs has racked up 784 runs at a jaw-dropping strike rate of 160.65.
He has featured in six T20 internationals thus far and scored 119 runs at a strike rate of 216.36. He has certainly got off to an incredible start and the Proteas would look to nurture him well enough so that he continues to deliver in the same manner.
In the T20 World Cup, Stubbs will be one of the most certain players to feature on the team sheet for the Proteas as Rassie van der Dussen has been ruled out of the competition. He can provide the much-needed impact in the middle order that is often required in this format of the game.
