T20 World Cup 2022: Top 5 run-scorers of the tournament so far

After his blistering knock against Bangladesh on Wednesday, November 2, Virat Kohli became the leading run-scorer in the history of the T20 World Cup. With his magnificent 64* off 44, the ‘King’ of Indian cricket is now also the leading run-scorer of the multi-nation tournament. With 220 runs from just four matches, the former India captain surpassed the Dutch Max O’Dowd to take his position at the top of the table.

The 33-year-old already has three half-centuries in the tournament and managed to bag two Player of the Match trophies so far in the tournament. After his poor form with the bat in 2021 and early 2022, Virat looked in great shape and has been extremely consistent so far in the tournament.

Netherlands opener Max O’Dowd is currently second on the list with 213 runs from seven matches so far in the tournament. With a strike rate of 115.76, he managed to give Nethelrands a good start in the majority of the matches, which eventually helped them qualify for the Super 12 of the competition. With his highest score of 71 in the tournament, the 28-year-old scored smashed two half-centuries so far in the tournament. Despite that, the cricketer couldn’t inspire his team to qualify for the semi-final of the competition.

Kusal Mendis ranks third on the list with 205 runs from seven matches so far. With an average of 34.16 and a strike rate of 144.36, the wicket-keeper batter has been exceptional. He has given Sri Lanka the start they desperately needed early on and if they manage to get a win over England and if other results fall in their favour, the Lankan lions can still manage to qualify for the semis.

Irish middle-order batter Lorcan Tucker is fourth on the list of the most run-scorers in the tournament. The 26-year-old played multiple crucial knocks for his team and scored 191 runs from six matches so far. With an average of 47.75 and a strike rate of 128.18, Tucker has been exceptional so far in the tournament.

Sikandar Raza has taken the T20 World Cup 2022 by storm. Be it with the bat or with the ball, the Zimbabwe legend has delivered whenever it mattered the most. He currently ranks fifth on the list of most run-getters and also fifth on the list of most wicket-takers in the tournament. He has been phenomenal so far and played a very crucial role in Zimbabwe’s campaign so far.
