1. Ishan Kishan - INR 15.25 crore (Mumbai Indians)

Ishan Kishan is known for his fearless batting approach. The wicket-keeper batter was part of India’s World Cup plans initially and performed fairly well in the chances he got. As of now, the 24-year-old has played 19 T20I matches and scored 543 runs at a strike rate of 131.16.

However, there were a few things that worked against the Jharkhand batter. Ishan had a rather mediocre outing in IPL 2022 where he struck at 120.11 - quite uncharacteristic of him. With KL Rahul a certainty to start as an opener, the dashing batter only had the backup wicket-keeper spot to make a case for himself.

But Dinesh Karthik, with his prolific performances in the IPL 2022 for Royal Challengers Bangalore and then for India, had a strong resume for the wicket-keeper slot. Also, the 37-year-old fulfills the role of a designated finisher which is highly invaluable. Therefore, Kishan ended up losing the spot to Karthik.
