CricTracker lists three of the top patriotic ads and moments in cricketing history.
1. Nike’s “Bleed Blue” Campaign (2011)
Nike has a well-documented history of associations with popular sports teams over the years. It signed an association with Indian Cricket Team in 2005 and the deal got extended after the men's team won the ODI World Cup in 2011. Nike launched the "Bleed Blue" campaign in the run up to the 2011 World Cup. The campaign was created by JWT. It connected the digital-savvy generation's passion related to cricket with the global event's importance.
Facebook was flooded with '#BleedBlue' after the campaign began and the trend continues even to this day. Nike used former India captain Kapil Dev and popular Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone for their campaign before and during the 2015 World Cup along with common people to promote the Bleed Blue campaign. Nike's association with India ended a few years back but fans still use #BleedBlue to show their support for the Men in Blue.
