Cricket Australia keeps Chris Lynn out of Global T20 Canada
Lynn last featured for KKR in IPL 2018.
Chris Lynn was signed up as a marquee player by Edmonton Royals in the first season of the Global T20 Canada league. However, two games have been played in the tournament and Lynn is nowhere to be found. A report by espncricinfo suggests that Cricket Australia didn’t allow the dashing batter to fly to Canada and participate in the league.
Lynn has forever had troubles with his body and his right shoulder is the reason Australian board, his home side Queensland and Big Bash League (BBL) franchise Brisbane Heat were all on the same page to not hand him a No Objection Certificate to participate in the Canadian T20 league. The Royals replaced him with Andre Fletcher in the squad.
Missed the PSL, was fit for IPL
The 28-year-old had pulled his shoulder out of the socket while fielding during the final of the T20I Tri-Series 2018 against New Zealand in February. He had to miss the Pakistan Super League, however, was declared fit enough to participate in the Indian Premier League (IPL) where he represented Kolkata Knight Riders in 16 matches.
The medical team took scans of his shoulder after the IPL and they were satisfied with how it had healed and thus concluded that the right-hander didn’t need to undergo a surgery. Lynn’s last ODI appearance for Australia was his only match back in 2017 and wasn’t included in the squad for the recently concluded tour of England where they lost the series 5-0.
ESPN’s report further mentioned that CA wants him to take some more time and rehabilitate completely from the injury. He played the IPL with a few restrictions on the range of motion, the board is trying to ensure he is at his best for the JLT Cup their domestic one-day tournament that is scheduled for September. Considering that, Lynn should also be available to represent the Trinbago Knight Riders in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2018.
