The year 2018 is coming to its end and for the cricket fans, it was another successful and exciting twelve months of cricketing action. Apart from a whole lot of series’, there were some multi-nation tournaments including the Asia Cup, Pakistan-Australia-Zimbabwe tri-series as well that attracted a lot of attention. Like every year, tons of runs and trollies of wickets were witnessed across the world.
For some players, it was an unforgettable year while for others, things didn’t work out as well as they would’ve liked in these twelve months. Best Batsman- Virat Kohli
The modern-day batting legend, Virat Kohli had another scintillating year with the bat, scoring over 1200 ODI runs at an unimaginable average of 133. In his very first assignment of 2018, the Indian skipper smashed a blistering ton against South Africa, helping India start the series on a dominating note.
Later in the third ODI, the 30-year-old scored one of his all-time best ODI knocks. He made run-a-ball unbeaten 160 runs including 12 fours and 2 sixes, again taking India over the line. Recently during the West Indies tour of India, the batting heavyweight fired three consecutive centuries, adding one more feather to his already full cap.
He is by many termed the best batsman of the generation as well as one a modern-day legend. Owing to these whopping numbers and achievements Kohli surely deserves to be called the best ODI batsman of the year-2018.
