'Aadujeevitham' movie producers file piracy case on Kochi Blue Tigers ahead of inaugural Kerala Cricket League
Kerala Cricket League will begin on Monday, September 2, in Thiruvananthapuram.
The franchise league cricket carnival has been ongoing in full swing in the country. Apart from a few states that already have their league, Kerala aka 'God's Own Country' is now all set to start a new cricket extravaganza in the country. The coveted Kerala Cricket League (KCL 2024) will commence on Monday, September 2. However, the six-team competition got marred with a controversy before it even started, due to one of the teams named, Kochi Blue Tigers.
Tigers have found themselves in a legal soup after they launched their anthem for the team. Notably, Visual Romance, the production company of the renowned Malayalam movie 'Aadujeevitham' have slapped the team with charges of piracy. The film production decided to knock the doors of the court against the team owners for illegally using the song for their official anthem. Notably, the music maestro AR Rehman had composed the song for the superhit flick.
As per Blessy, the director of Visual Romance, the United Kingdom (UK) based firm that holds the owning rights of the Blue Tigers team, did buy the copyright of the theme song called 'Hope', but they were not given a free license to edit and use the video of the song for commercial purposes such as anthem creation. Apart from having composed the song, the Oscar-winning music director AR Rehman himself features in the video as the lead.
Hence, in the aftermath, as per OnManorama, it was claimed that the video was solely edited to present AR Rehman as the brand ambassador of the Kochi Blue Tigers. Moreover, the visuals in question were also included in the said official anthem. Currently, as things stand, Visual Romance has demanded an explanation from the team owners regarding their anthem act. But after having waited for a while and not getting any response from the team owners until now, the makers of the blockbuster movie have finally decided to take the legal route in the piracy infringement context.
For the unversed, the movie, 'Aadujeevitham- The Goat Life' was released this year (2024) in the form of a survival drama. The movie garnered immense appreciation from the fans and the film fraternity alike. The movie won several awards in Kerala. The flick was nominated and won awards for being one of the most popular movie, best screenplay along with best actor and director awards, respectively.
