Ahmed Shehzad didn't mince his words while criticizing the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) selectors after they announced a 15-member squad to take on England in the first Test of a three-match series, starting on Monday, October 7 at the Multan Cricket Stadium.

The former Pakistan opener lashed out at the selectors for the non-selection of two players, Kamran Ghulam and Mohammad Ali, to the squad. Ghulam was a part of Pakistan's squad during the Test series against Bangladesh. However, he didn't get the chance to make his debut. The left-arm spin-bowling all-rounder was once again overlooked.

Shehzad lambasted the selectors and alleged that personal bias might have influenced the decision. He was also perplexed upon finding pacer Mohammed Ali outside the squad amid reports of injury concerns for Aamer Jamal and Shaheen Shah Afridi.

“Kamran Ghulam has once again been ignored. What I don’t understand is that Khurram Shahzad is injured, and Aamer Jamal is also not fully fit. Shaheen Shah Afridi is also not fully fit. Even then you have not put in Mohammed Ali. I am not able to understand what their options are in this,” Shahzad criticized the Pakistan selectors in a video uploaded on his 'X' (previously Twitter) account.

“How will you justify not picking Kamran and Sahibzada Farhan in the squad? What sin did they commit? Is it because they bat in the same position where Babar bats? When Yousuf was the coach, he left everything on two to three players. Yousuf is the selector and this is the team he is selecting. Give me one logic why Kamran Ghulam was left out?” Shehzad added.

Pakistan seek redemption after embarrassing series defeat to Bangladesh

Shan Masood and Co. were recently beaten 2-0 in a two-match Test series at home by Bangladesh. Before this series, Bangladesh had never beaten Pakistan in the longest format of the game. However, Najmul Hossain Shanto's men outplayed their counterparts in all facets of the game to register a significant series win.

Pakistan are languishing at No. 8 on the World Test Championship (WTC) standings after the disappointing result. A lot of criticism is being directed towards the players and it is high time that they get their acts together to give their fans something to cheer about.
