Tim Murtagh, former captain of Middlesex County Cricket Club, has a distinguished career of more than two decades. However, as the end of his playing career approaches, his enjoyment of each game has grown.

The 41-year-old had a quirky reply recently when asked about his retirement, as he said that he has been saying "one more year" for about half of his career. He also said that he might take on the coaching role that was assigned to him last year. He further stated that he is unsure whether his body will allow him to play, but he wishes to play more cricket.

"Probably yes. I'm in a bit of a different role this year with taking on the coaching as well… so I'll say, as I have said for the last 10 years, 'one more year', but we'll play it by ear. I'm not sure the body can keep going for too much longer. I still want to play as much as I can this year and be available as much as the coach and captain want me to play. We'll see what happens,” Murtagh told ESPNcricinfo.

Can add a bit of experience having played in Divishion One: Tim Murtagh

Murtagh went on to say that he had a great time last season and that it was great to help the other players get into Division One. He also mentioned that he is confident of his ability to contribute, having previously played in this division. He added that he is aware that there is limited time, but said that he will enjoy every game he plays.

"I really enjoyed last season and it was great to help bring the boys up into Division One. Hopefully, I can add a bit of experience having played in this division before - some of our guys won't have done. I know there's not much time left but I'm going to enjoy every game that I am playing,” the Middlesex skipper added.
