With the group stage of the Asia cup being done and dusted, we now have the top four teams who will fight for continental glory. India won both of their matches and qualified as the league leaders of their group while Pakistan defeated Hong Kong and joined India as the teams to qualify for the super four. On the other hand, Afghanistan qualified after winning both their matches while Sri Lanka defeated Bangladesh to join the three other teams.

The super fours of the competition begins on Saturday, 3rd of September, with Sri Lanka taking on Afghanistan in the very first match at Sharjah Cricket Stadium. The two teams met in the group stage as well where the Afghanis completely outclassed the Lankans and defeated them by 8 wickets. The Dasun Shanaka-led side made a grand return in the match against Bangladesh and showed what they are capable of! Meanwhile, Rashid Khan and Mujeeb Ur Rahman have been in fantastic form lately. Thus, the fans can expect an intense battle in the middle.

The second match will be the battle to look out for. India already defeated Pakistan earlier in the tournament and it will be interesting to see if the men in green can settle the score. Both the teams have enough firepower in their arsenal and have proved so far in the tournament. Thus, it’s going to be a cutthroat competition between the arch-nemesis. The two teams are scheduled to face each other on Sunday, 4th of September at Dubai.

The teams will be given an off day on 5th of September and India will be back in action against Sri Lanka on the 6th of September at Dubai International Cricket Stadium. The two most successful teams of the Asia Cup will face each other for the first time in the 15th edition of the Asia Cup.

Pakistan will face Afghanistan the following day at the same venue. The Mohammad Nabi-led side is considered as the dark horse of the tournament. Former Captain of the team, Asghar Afghan already stated how tough this rivalry is and how they have the quality to beat Pakistan in the super four. If they indeed manage to do so, it will definitely be one of the highlights of the tournament. Pakistan, on the other hand, will be more calm given their success against their neighbour in the recent past.

The final round of the super four will begin on Thursday, 8th of September with India taking on Afghanistan. The two back-to-back matches against Pakistan and India will be a test of their capabilities. In order to qualify for the finals, the team will have to play some good cricket against the two heavyweights. India, on the other hand, can’t take them lightly as their opponent has the ability to beat the defending champions.

The final match of the super four will see Sri Lanka taking on Pakistan on 9th of September at Dubai. This can be a do or die match for both the teams and thus, there will be immense pressure in the match.
