Virat Kohli stood true to his identity of being a chase master when India defeated Australia in the semi-final of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 to book a berth in the grand finale. Kohli's 84 ensured India moved closer to the finishing line with rather comfort. Kohli's knock only had 20 runs coming off the five boundaries he hit, whereas, mindful rotation of strike and swift running between the wickets ensured India could chase down the 265-run target set by Steven Smith's Australia.

Following Kohli's masterful knock, India head coach Gautam Gambhir was asked to share the feeling inside the dressing room when the 36-year-old is batting during a run chase. Gambhir's response took everyone by surprise as he said that the feeling isn't any different from other players in the side, citing an equal importance to all the batters in the team.

"It feels exactly the same whoever is there in the middle. Everyone is important. It feels exactly the same whether it is Virat in the middle or anyone else. Ultimately, it is about playing for the country. When you are representing your country, everyone is important," Gambhir said in the post-match press conference.
