Cricket fans in Brampton look forward to new 'world class' stadium in making
The Brampton stadium will provide multiple facilities in the arena.
The Brampton stadium in Canada is looking to develop a multi-purpose cricket facility that will be surrounded by business, tourism, leisure, residential, and transit facilities. It will be a part of the city's 'Living the Mosaic' 2040 vision to produce complete neighbourhoods and support multiculturalism. Mayor Patrick Brown said the stadium is said to have multiple uses, but the main priority will be cricket, which has changed the demographics of Brampton.
Harminder Dhillon, a founding member of Engage Peel, the resident advocacy group, feels that this facility will build social connections and opportunities and also create a healthy community. The CBC Toronto did an online survey of the residents, and many people feel that this facility will open a lot of avenues for concerts, movie screenings, and public art, which will be a part of the community.
"We're having a difficult time making the transition from bedroom communities into full-blown cities. Public spaces so the community will come together, celebrate joys and mingle with each other, and build a sense of community, celebrate multiculturalism ... we don't have those spaces," Dhillon was quoted as saying by CBC news
A Lord's like look for the new stadium in plans?
Gurshaan Dhot, a young 10-year-old cricket player in Brampton, thinks that the cricket stadium is a very good idea. He feels that the stadium is much closer compared to others, and he wishes to see more games played with top players. Praim Persaud, president of the Brampton-Etobicoke & District Cricket League, said that this type of facility will help the local players play at the same level as other teams around the world.
Faraz Saleem, president of the Brampton Cricket League, said "the demand for cricket is overwhelming." He said that there are more than 50 local teams, but because of the lack of enough cricket facilities in the city, he can only take two. Even though there is no international cricket currently, this will bring in a lot of residents. According to Saleem, the league values having time set aside for local teams to train and compete. The Lord's Cricket Ground in London, England, which incorporates hotels and other amenities surrounding the pitch, is how he envisions the new venues.
