'Everyone would be lifting Kohli in dressing room' - Wasim Jaffer talks about India's celebration after thrilling win over Pakistan
Virat Kohli guided India to an incredible win against Pakistan in their T20 World Cup 2022 opening clash.
The star Indian batter Virat Kohli played one of the best T20I innings on Sunday (October 23) to guide India to a thrilling win over Pakistan in a Super 12 game. Both India and Pakistan treated fans with one of the most exciting games at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground with a last-ball thriller in their opening T20 World Cup 2022 Super 12 fixture.
Kohli smashed an unbeaten 82 runs off just 53 balls after India lost their opening pair and star batter Suryakumar Yadav in the 160-run chase. He put up an impressive 113-run partnership for the fifth wicket with Hardik Pandya and helped India score 48 runs from the last three overs. Everyone, including India captain Rohit Sharma, was in awe of Kohli's marvelous knock during India's celebration in Melbourne.
Indian squad rushed to the pitch when Ravichandran Ashwin smashed the winning run on the last ball of the match. Rohit lifted Kohli while celebrating India's win and the stadium was at full volume with fans cheering for Kohli.
The dressing room and the Indian team's hotel will have the same Diwali-celebration environment today: Wasim Jaffer
Former India cricketer Wasim Jaffer, in the BatBricks7 RunKiRunNeeti post-match show on CrickTracker, was asked about the environment in the Indian dressing room ahead of the Diwali festival on Monday (October 24).
"In the dressing room, everyone would be lifting Kohli and they should be. We saw how Rohit lifted him on the pitch happily and it was a good moment. Many fans think that there is some cold war going on between Rohit and Virat but it's nothing like that. So fans from both stars will be happy to see the current captain celebrating the former captain's match-winning knock. As Diwali is already here, the dressing room and the Indian team's hotel will have the same Diwali-celebration environment today," Jaffer said in response in the post-match show on CricTracker.
After a quick celebration, India will now focus for their next game against the Netherlands at the Sydney Cricket Ground on October 27 and Pakistan will be looking for a winning return against Zimbabwe in their next match at the Perth Stadium on the same day.
