Faf du Plessis names Jofra Archer as toughest bowler to face in modern era
Jofra Archer is set to return to competitive cricket after a hiatus of more than 18 months.
Former South Africa skipper Faf du Plessis recently named Jofra Archer as the toughest bowler to face in modern-day cricket. In ESPNcricinfo’s special segment named ‘25 questions,’ Faf was asked to name the toughest bowler to face on the field today and the former Proteas skipper answered Jofra Archer.
Archer has been tremendous so far in international cricket, picking up 86 wickets in 42 matches. However, the cricketer has been prone to injury and missed the last Ashes series down under and T20 World Cup 2021 and 2022 because of the same. Now, the England international is finally set to make his return to competitive cricket for MI Cape Town after being out for almost 18 months.
However, keeping an eye on his workload management regarding the upcoming Ashes and ODI World Cup, the speedster is only set to feature in two matches for the Cape Town-based franchise. He also recently featured for England Lions that took on the England Test squad ahead of the latter's Test tour to Pakistan.
‘Switch hit from Glenn Maxwell’ - Du Plessis reveals the shot he wants to steal from a cricketer
The 38-year-old Du Plessis in the same segment also revealed that he wants to steal Glenn Maxwell’s switch hit. The Australia international often plays the shot with absolute ease and the former South Africa skipper wants to add it to his arsenal.
Notably, he will be seen reassociating with the Super Kings franchise in the upcoming SA20 league. Joburg Super Kings have named him their skipper ahead of the inaugural edition and they will be seen taking on Durban’s Super Giants in their first match on January 11.
As far as Faf’s involvement in the Indian Premier League is concerned, he was retained by the Royal Challengers Bangalore ahead of the 2023 auction and will be seen leading the side once again in the upcoming edition.
The franchise defeated Lucknow Super Giants in the Eliminator but lost to Rajasthan Royals in the second Qualifier.
