Certain Virat Kohli supporters expressed their strong disapproval of Dainik Jagran media for producing articles that compared Kohli to Rohit Sharma, particularly in terms of their distinct playing styles. Kohli's fans urged a boycott of Dainik Jagran media and, in a show of protest, even set newspaper copies on fire after it released an article discussing Kohli's batting approach in the 2023 ODI World Cup and suggesting that Rohit Sharma does not prioritize centuries as much as Kohli does.

In a recent piece penned by sports journalist Abhishek Tripathi for Dainik Jagran, there was an evident differentiation between the approaches of former Indian cricket captain Kohli and the current skipper Rohit Sharma. The article titled 'Shatak Par Ravaiyaa alag alag' (two different perspectives on a century), offered insights into their contrasting playing styles.

The author's critique of Kohli highlighted the former captain's penchant for pursuing centuries, often concentrating on achieving the coveted 100-run milestone. He suggested that Kohli's focus appeared to lean more towards personal achievements rather than the collective success of the Indian team. In contrast, he heaped praise upon Rohit Sharma, commending his approach of playing for the team and emphasizing the importance of scoring big runs through aggressive strokes.

The piece did not sit well with Kohli's loyal fanbase as they took to social media platforms to express their displeasure, trending a hashtag that criticized the publication for its stance. Tripathi, who also serves as the sports editor at Dainik Jagran, bore the brunt of the backlash from the fans.

Despite the tumultuous reactions, he responded with a touch of sarcasm, posting a tweet that hinted, “Winter is coming, ‘fans’ are about to go off,” he tweeted.

Meanwhile, under the leadership of Rohit, the Indian cricket team embarked on a remarkable winning streak, securing six consecutive victories during the 2023 World Cup season. These outstanding performances propelled the Men in Blue into the semi-finals, showcasing their unwavering consistency on the global stage.
