Australian red-ball skipper Pat Cummins has given a major hint on the inclusion of Travis Head in Australia's playing XI for the second Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2023, which will be played from February 17, 2023 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi.

Australia are trailing 0-1 in the ongoing four-match Test series and will be desperate to make a massive turnaround in order to be able to seal their place in the World Test Championship final, scheduled to be played from June 7, 2023 at The Oval.

“Travis (Head) has been awesome, he is been working hard on his game. He is absolutely part of the conversation for this Test as he was in the 1st," the 29-year-old said while speaking to reporters ahead of the second Test match at the Arun Jaitley Stadium.

Australia's plans to deploy four specialist bowlers

The right-arm fast bowler clarified that Travis Head, let alone out of talks from the playing XI, was rather always the preferred choice. But some last-minute changes had to be made in the playing XI given the conditions of the Nagpur pitch for the first Test, because of which left-handed batter Matt Renshaw was prefered ahead of Travis Head in the playing XI.

The tall cricketer went on to add that Head had been rigorously practicing on turning turfs a lot ever since the Border-Gavaskar Trophy even began, and definitely looks in very good shape who can be used in the second Test against India. Head had been phenomenal in domestic cricket in Australia and was waiting for his opportunity to represent Australia against India in this Test series.

With regard to having bowlers within the squad, Cummins stated that Head's inclusion would be a major boost, and if Cameron Green comes in, Australia might be well-settled with four specialist bowlers.

“Ideally if batters chip in, or someone like (Cameron) Green you have, it is ok to go with 4 specialist bowlers."
