I don't have friends, I don't like to make friends, I am scared to share my thoughts: Prithvi Shaw
"I'm disappointed after not getting a chance in the squad for the West Indies tour, but you just have to move forward," Shaw said.
Young India batter Prithvi Shaw is going through a rough patch in his career. Notably, he has proved his worth from a very young age, winning the Under-19 World Cup as captain and making his international debut with a spectacular century in Test cricket.
The 23-year-old recently featured in the 2023 Duleep Trophy final between West Zone and South Zone, which was played at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. The West Zone batter scored a half-century in the first innings of the summit clash but failed to perform well in the final innings. Notably, the Priyank Panchal-led side suffered a 75-run defeat against the South Zone.
During a joint-interview with Wisden and Cricbuzz, Shaw was asked about how he looked at the situation of being dropped from a team. To which, the batter responded that he didn't get to know the reason why he was dropped from the Indian team. He added that he then went to the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru and cleared most of the tests but was disappointed after not getting a place in the squad for the West Indies tour.
"When I was dropped [from the Indian team], I didn't get to know the reason. Someone was saying it could be fitness. But of course I came here [to Bengaluru] and cleared all the tests at the NCA, again scored runs and again came back to the T20 team. But again didn't get a chance in the West Indies. I'm disappointed but you just have to move forward. I can't do anything, I can't fight with anyone. As a person, I just like to be in my own zone," Shaw said.
"People say a lot of things about me. But those who know me, know how I am. I don't have friends, I don't like to make friends. This is what's happening with this generation. You can't share your thoughts with anyone else. If you ask me personally, it's very scary. Darr lagta hai aajkal to share my thoughts. Agle din social media mein aa jaata hai (I'm scared to share my thoughts. Somehow all of it comes up on social media). I've very less friends, only a couple of friends, and even with them I don't share everything, only a few things," he added.
