‘I will remember that six for the rest of my career’ - Deepti Sharma after The Hundred extravagenza
London Spirit defeated Welsh Fire by four wickets to win the women's Hundred.
Deepti Sharma was batting on 10 runs off 15 balls in The Hundred final as her team London Spirit was praying for a miracle in the last over. Six runs were needed in three deliveries and given the fact that Deepti was struggling to connect, there was plenty of sweat in the dressing room. However, the India all-rounder remained calm and stepped out of her crease to hit a six to get the job done for London.
The mood in the dressing room immediately changed as many players ran towards Deepti to celebrate. Speaking about the entire experience, the 26-year-old revealed that since she was the set batter, she decided to take the responsibility and finish it off. The Agra-born cricketer added that she wanted to finish the game on the very ball and did not want to drag it further as it would have put more pressure on the team.
“With four runs needed off three balls, I thought that the match has to be finished at this moment and on this delivery, instead of dragging it to the last two three balls, as the mindset was to finish off the game as quickly as possible,” Deepti was quoted as saying by News18.

“I thought that I must take that responsibility on myself to finish off the game because I was the only set batter at that time and that’s how finishing the game on this very delivery emerged in my mind,” she added.
