Idolised lot of players like Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav: Dewald Brevis
Brevis has got 135 runs in six outings for MI Cape Town in the inaugural season of the ongoing SA20.
MI Cape Town’s batting sensation Dewald Brevis has expressed his admiration for India skipper Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav. He further shared about his experience of playing in the Indian Premier League (IPL) with the five-time title holders Mumbai Indians.
The flamboyant batter relished a great time with the IPL franchise courtesy of his noteworthy performances in the last edition as he got 161 runs in seven outings. As the batter reassociated with the MI group, this time under the management of MI Cape Town of the SA20, Brevis stated that the setup is terrific. He further added that he idolised star players like Rohit and Suryakumar in the set-up.
“My blood is blue, and my favourite colour is blue. So, to just be able to be part of this one family, it’s been amazing like the setup everything is absolutely fantastic here in Cape Town, just like it is in Mumbai itself. So, to be part of this family is absolutely amazing," Brevis was quoted as saying by India Today.
“I idolised a lot of players like for example, Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar (Yadav) and all other big players, I absolutely enjoyed playing with these legends,” added Brevis.
Hashim Amla brings calmness in me: Dewald Brevis
Brevis has got 135 runs in six outings for the Cape Town side in the inaugural season of the ongoing SA20. Working under the likes of batting coach Hashim Amla and head coach Simon Katich, Brevis further added that the duo has been helping him improve in various facets of the game.
“It’s new things that you pick up from them. They give you vital information. Hash (Hashim Amla), he’s such an amazing coach and person so he just brings calmness in me and helps me move a lot of things,” told the youngster.
“Same with coach Simon (Katich), he’s amazing as the coach. So, there’s always time to share things and learn from him. We always speak a lot about that and about things going on with my batting. So all the coaches share so much good information that you can take into your game," he added.
MI Cape Town currently stand second on the points table and with few matches to go in the league phase, the side will look to cement their spot in the semi-finals.
Interestingly, 'Baby AB' took the opponents down the ground with a blistering knock of an unbeaten 162 off just 57 balls in a match during the CSA T20 Challenge earlier in November, 2022.
