International League T20 announces commencement of season 2 in UAE

The International League T20 has announced that the second season of the United Arab Emirates domestic franchise-based T20 league will kick off on January 13, 2024. The inaugural season of the ILT20 was a resounding success, culminating in an exciting final played in front of a packed Dubai International Stadium, where Gulf Giants defeated Desert Vipers by seven wickets to become champions.

Following the success of the inaugural season, preparations have already begun for season 2, which will feature the same 34-match format with four playoffs, including the final. The complete tournament schedule is yet to be announced.
Sheikh Nahayan Mabarak Al Nahayan, Minister of Tolerance and Chairman of Emirates Cricket Board, expressed his gratitude to the fans for their overwhelming support, saying, "The league succeeded in showcasing to the world our local cricket talent as well as our exceptional hosting capabilities which make UAE a wonderful cricketing destination," as quoted by The Print.
Vice chairman of Emirates Cricket Board and chairman of ILT20, Khalid Al Zarooni, also shared his excitement about the league's second season, saying, "The first season has been an enormous success, surpassing expectations, and the league will only grow further and build on this incredible beginning."
First season, a huge success
The league has received high praise for its efforts in promoting local cricket talent and highlighting the UAE's hosting capabilities. The second season is expected to further strengthen UAE's position as a top cricket destination.
"We look forward to hosting and entertaining you all in Season 2," Al Zarooni said.
