'In a few years, your career will just be your stats' - Sir Wesley Hall on modern cricket
Sir Wesley Hall, recently voiced his apprehension about this trend, suggesting that in the years to come, a player's career might be reduced to only statistics.
Cricket is a game rich in history, culture, and tradition. However, there is a growing concern that the modern approach to the sport is becoming overly obsessed with statistics and numbers, potentially diminishing the essence of the game itself.
Legendary West Indies fast bowler, Sir Wesley Hall, recently voiced his apprehension about this trend, suggesting that in the years to come, a player's career might be reduced to only statistics, with other factors being overlooked.
"The problem with cricket now is... they look at what's happening in another 10, 20, 30, 40 years. Everything is going to be your stats. Nobody's going to remember who the bowler was or anything like that. They'll be looking at the stats. That's how it is," he said as quoted by Cricbuzz.

They will adapt to the situation: Sir Wesley Hall
Hall picked 198 wickets in 48 Tests at an impressive average of 26. The great met the Indian team stars, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma and Indian head coach Rahul Dravid after their practice session in Barbados.
The Indian team, hich is currently in the Caribbean for the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup 2024, has qualified for the Super Eight stages and will be up against Afghanistan for their first clash. The 86-year-old spoke about India's chances in the marquee event.
"In Adelaide, about two or three years [four] ago, India were playing Australia, and India got bowled out for 48 [36]. But you know, they won the next two Tests [two of the next three]. So what I'm saying is you might do that for a day or a month, you know, but a good player will adapt," Sir Hall added.

"The World Cups are usually played in various grounds and you're going to have something coming up that you haven't seen before and things like that. But cricketers are people who can adapt to the situations and that's why they're so great, the great players. They will adapt to the situation," he concluded.
