IPL 2023: Auction to start at 2:30 PM IST on December 23

The mini-auction of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is scheduled to take place on December 23 in Kochi. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), on December 13, confirmed that the auction will take place at 2:30 PM local time

The IPL has also announced the final list of players set to go under the hammer, which has been slashed to 405, nearly half from the original list of 991 players. Of the 405 players, 273 players are Indians, while 132 are overseas players that includes four players from the associate nations. The total number of capped players are 119 whereas 282 are uncapped and 4 from associate nations.

The auction list contains a maximum of 87 slots available with up to 30 being for overseas players. Furthermore, the highest reserve price is kept at INR 2 crore with as many as 19 overseas players choosing the highest bracket in the mini-auction.

Manish Pandey and Mayank Agarwal are the two local players with a base price of INR 1 crore among the list of 20 cricketers in the same bracket. The auction pool remaining for the franchises is INR 206.5 crore in total ahead with Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) heading into the auction with the largest auction purse of INR 42.25 crore.

In addition to this, the franchise will be looking to make major changes by acquiring the services of new players and bolstering the squad ahead of the new season.

On the other hand, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have the smallest purse with INR 7.05 crore remaining walking into the auction. With a total of 405 cricketers up for sale, franchises will be keeping tabs on numerous players to have them in their squad as it remains to be seen what transpires in the auction next week.
