Later on, there was a bidding war between Delhi Capitals and the Punjab Kings for the South African batter but ultimately the latter won the bid as they bought the player for a whopping INR 8 Crores. However, it was a poor start to the season for him once he was introduced as he could not muster any significant score. The batter did find form later on in the final three games of the tournament but it was a little too late.
