Ireland vs India 2023: Everything you need to know about upcoming series

India are all set to lock horns with Ireland in a three-match T20I series beginning from Friday, August 18. The series will mark the return of the speedster Jasprit Bumrah who’s been out of action since September 2022 due to a back stress fracture. The fast bowler last represented India in a T20I against Australia in Hyderabad on September 25, 2022.

The series will serve as a much-needed match practice for Bumrah to get ready for the upcoming crucial events namely Asia Cup and World Cup 2023. The 29-year-old will be leading a young team with Rinku Singh and Jitesh Sharma earning their maiden India callups. 

On the other hand, Ireland, led by their captain Paul Stirling, will get to play against a top cricketing nation like India to get their players accustomed to the challenge strong teams pose. The Irish have several star players in their squad such as Andrew Balbirnie, Harry Tector, Lorcan Tucker, Joshua Little and many more.

Notably, India and Ireland have faced each other five times in T20Is so far where India have emerged victorious on all occasions. The Paul Stirling-led side will be eager to end India’s unbeaten record against them and pounce on a less experienced Indian side in the upcoming series. The Men in Blue were recently beaten in a five-match T20I series against West Indies by 2-3 and will be desperate to bounce back from their loss.

On the other hand, Ireland last played T20Is in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Europe Region Qualifier held in July where they finished on the second spot with four wins from six matches having nine points to their name.

Ireland and India will be seen locking horns in three T20Is which will be played on Friday, August 18, August 20 and August 23 at The Village in Dublin.
