‘Love story has translated into marriage’ – Virender Sehwag opens up on Gill's love affair with Narendra Modi Stadium
Shubman Gill has scored three of six centuries in 2023 at Narendra Modi Stadium
Many cricket experts predicted it to be Shubman Gill’s year in IPL 2023, considering his records at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Gill is in terrific form, scoring 576 runs at an average of 48 and striking at 146.19.
The Indian opener became the first batter to score a century for Gujarat Titans in the Indian Premier League as he scored 101 against the Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Narendra Modi Stadium on Monday, May 15 in match No. 62. Gill continued his love affair with the ground and scored his maiden century in IPL ensuring that the defending champions book a spot in the IPL 2023 playoffs.
With his latest match-winning knock at Ahmedabad, he has certainly stretched his love affair at the venue. It is to be carefully noted that all of his half-centuries in the 2023 IPL have come in Ahmedabad.
Citing his terrific run at the venue, the former Indian opener Virender Sehwag lauded GT’s star for his knock and also said that it looked as if Gill was batting on a completely different surface, scoring boundaries at will. The former Indian player also made an ostentatious remark about the Punjab-born cricketer that, according to him, his love story has now translated into marriage, pointing out his form at the venue
“This was probably the biggest chapter. I would rather say that the love story has translated into marriage. It looked like he was batting on a completely different surface. He was scoring those boundaries with such ease but all other batters struggled. We have been talking about Shubman for a long time. This year he scored a hundred in T20Is and Tests, has a double hundred in ODI and now scored a century in IPL as well,” he said as per a report in Hindustan times.
