There are only 2-3 players like Hardik Pandya in the world: Head coach Gautam Gambhir

Team India successfully lifted the Champions Trophy 2025 after a comprehensive display of contributions in all aspects of the game. A team filled with as many as five all-rounders, only Hardik Pandya could bowl seam up, and was often used as the second seamer after Mohammed Shami by India. With the bat, Pandya contributed mostly at the death to finish the games for the team with handy cameos.

Head Coach Gautam Gambhir is satisfied with what Pandya brings to the table, especially in white-ball cricket. Gambhir further extolled Pandya for being one of the rarest combinations as a team contributor to the India team. The coach further said that the all-rounder has the ability to hit the big shots when the team needs them the most, and further added that there are only a handful of players like him in the world.

“Hardik Pandya is a great player under pressure. There are only two-three players like him in the world. He has the ability to play big shots in difficult times and his impact is fantastic," Gambhir said on Star Sports.
