Team Pakistan is set to face India in its tournament opener of the 2022 T20 World Cup. The encounter will be played at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on October 23 (Sunday). Meanwhile, Pakistan's opening batter Mohammad Rizwan has given his thoughts on the match and the preparations for the high-profile encounter.

Both teams recently faced each other during the 2022 T20 Asia Cup with the Men in Blue winning the first match, but Pakistan made a good comeback during the second time they faced the arch-rivals and defeated them in the Super Four round.

India vs Pakistan is a pressure game, but I try to keep things simple: Mohammad Rizwan

“Obviously pressure wala match hota hain India vs Pakistan ka so cheezon ko simple rakhne ka koshish karta hu. Pure team me iss tarah ka kaam hain ki India-Pakistan ka match he par pichele ek saal se jis tarah se matches huye hain mere khayal se koi itna difference nehi rahega. Haa World Cup ka match hain yeh humhare liye important he,” Rizwan said.

(Obviously, India vs Pakistan is a pressure game, but I try to keep things simple. The way both teams have played each other in one year, I don't think there won't be much difference. Yes, it is a World Cup match, so it will be important for us.)

Meanwhile, Rizwan played a crucial knock during the first match of the tri-series against Bangladesh as he was adjudged the Player of the Match for his excellent knock. The Men in Green will now face New Zealand in their second match of the competition to be played on Saturday.

"Always nice to do with the bat for Pakistan. We just kept things simple (himself and Babar), it was a good batting track, to be honest, the ball came on nicely and we did really well with both bat and ball. I always believe in hard work to get results," Rizwan said during the post-match presentation.
