'He played U23 under my captaincy, yesterday I played under him’ - Shivam Sharma reflects on Rishabh Pant’s growth
"It gives me pleasure to see his growth as a cricketer & I thank God for keeping him safe, fit and healthy,” Shivam wrote in a post.
India wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant recently featured for Purani Dilli 6 at the ongoing Delhi Premier League 2024. Competing against South Delhi Superstarz, Pant got off to a sluggish start and only managed to score 35 runs in 32 deliveries before he was sent back to the pavilion. His knock included four fours and one six, however, his strike rate was just 109.
After the game, his teammate Shivam Sharma took to X (formerly Twitter) and talked about how much growth Pant has made throughout his career. He revealed that the star batter played under his captaincy in Delhi’s U23 squad, and Pant himself managed to lead Purani Dilli 6, where Shivam played under him.
“Rishabh played Under-23 for Delhi under my captaincy & yesterday I played under his captaincy in DPL. It gives me pleasure to see his growth as a cricketer & I thank God for keeping him safe, fit and healthy,” Shivam posted.
Pant rolled his arm in DPL clash
In the same clash, Pant left the fans awestruck after he tried his hand at bowling. Notably, the wicketkeeper-batter has never bowled in international cricket, but he decided to bowl the final over of the game.
With just one run required in the final over, the game was won by Superstarz. Pant came onto ball and conceded the only run required for the opponents to win. Many came forward and connected his bowling to the recent appointment of Gautam Gambhir as India’s head coach as ever since Gambhir’s appointment, the likes of Suryakumar Yadav, Shubman Gill, and Rohit Sharma have all rolled their arms over.
