Twitter Reactions: David Wiese's five-wicket haul helps Gulf Giants clinch top spot

The final league game in the inaugural edition of International League T20 saw David Wiese help Gulf Giants win comfortably over the Sharjah Warriors in Sharjah. 

The Gulf Giants took on Sharjah Warriors at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium. The Gulf Giants had already sealed their play-offs spot before entering the final league game while the Sharjah Warriors sat fifth on the table and needed a win to stand a chance to qualify for the playoffs. 

Gulf Giants opted to bowl first on a tricky surface and tried to put the opposition batters in trouble right from the get-go. The Sharjah Warriors started strongly and scored 48 runs in the powerplay but also lost three wickets, which turned out to be a major blow. After the powerplay, the Sharjah batters looked in disarray as David Wiese dismantled the middle-order cheaply and claimed a five-wicket haul to restrict the Sharjah Warriors of a below-par 107. 

Gulf Giants were favourites to win the encounter chasing 108 on a Sharjah wicket with short boundaries. Aayan Afzal Khan and Gerhard Erasmus finished the chase with 21 balls to spare and seven wickets in hand.

Colin De Grandhomme was the top scorer of the match for his 35 off 28 balls. David Wiese was also named man of the match for his superb performance with the ball. With the win, Gulf Giants finish the league stage on top of the table with seven wins, one loss and two no-results from their ten fixtures. They will now face the Desert Vipers in Qualifier one to stand a chance to become the first team to qualify for the final. On the other hand, Sharjah Warriors are out of the tournament after finishing fifth in the points table.
