'Virat Kohli would have been a wrestler if he not a cricketer' - Bhuvneshwar Kumar's hilarious take on batter's alternate career
"Virat Kohli thinks he’s the best bowler in the team," said Bhuvneshwar Kumar.
Veteran India pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar has recently spoken about star batter Virat Kohli, stating that the former India skipper could have taken up a career in WWE (World Wrestling Entertainment) if did not go on to become a cricketer.
The 33-year-old went on to say that Kohli thinks he is the best bowler in team India and they're afraid that he could get hurt whenever he bowls.
“He would have been a wrestler if he was not a cricketer,” Bhuvneshwar said at the CEAT awards event.
“Virat Kohli thinks he’s the best bowler in the team. We’re always scared when he bowls as he could get injured due to his bowling action,” he added.
Kohli is regarded as one of the best cricketers India have ever produced. Making his international debut in 2008, Kohli has so far appeared in 500 plus games and amassed over 25,000 runs across formats of the game. The 34-year-old currently has the most centuries in all three formats of the game in active players, with 76 hundred to his tally.
Kohli is on course to surpass the record of legendary Indian batter Sachin Tendulkar for most centuries in ODI - 49. The 34-year-old has smashed 46 centuries in 275 games in the 50-over format. Following a lean patch, Kohli staged a stunning comeback in the 2023 season, amassing 984 runs in 17 matches across all formats at an average of 54.66 with four tons and two half-centuries.
The former India skipper will next take part in the forthcoming Asia Cup as he was included in the 17-man squad announced on Monday, August 21. The six-team Continental championship is scheduled to be contested in Pakistan and Sri Lanka from August 30 to September 17.
Meanwhile, Bhuvneshwar Kumar is not anywhere in team India's plans, having last played in a T20I against New Zealand in November 2022. The veteran did, however, play for the 2016 (Indian Premier League) champions Sunrisers Hyderabad in 2023.
