A consolation win in the last league stage match for UP Warriorz Women against Royal Challengers Bengaluru Women ended their campaign in the ongoing WPL 2025. Having already been ruled out from the play-offs, the Warriorz spoiled the party for Bengaluru, as the latter lost in a do-or-die encounter.

UP's start to the match was a blistering one. Their openers put up 67 runs in the powerplay without losing a wicket. But a horrible mix-up resulted in the run-out of Grace Harris for 39 off 22. RCB did not capitalise on the pressure caused by the breakthrough, as Kiran Navgire's (46 off 16) arrival at the crease meant the flow of runs coming at an even better rate.

Georgia Voll continued the onslaught from one end with Chinelle Henry and Sophie Ecclestone chipping in with finishing touches, which eventually took the scoreboard to 225-5 after 20 overs. This was also the highest total ever in WPL history. Smriti Mandhana & Co. didn't start well, which ultimately cost them the game as valiant efforts from Sneh Rana and Richa Ghosh went in vain, also ending their playoffs hopes.

Talking Points

1. Georgia remains stranded on 99*

Voll batted right till the end, however, it wasn't enough to raise a century for herself, as a run-out at the striker's end meant the second run couldn't be completed, which saw Voll returning back with an unbeaten 99 from 56 balls. Her knock included 17 fours and a towering maximum as well. She is now the joint-highest for the best score in WPL history, tied with Sophie Devine from RCB, who achieved the feat in the inaugural edition.

2. Sneh Rana x Deepti Sharma - A battle worth watching

As Bengaluru needed 43 runs from 12 balls, with two wickets intact, everyone had lost hopes except Sneh Rana. The bowling all-rounder took Deepti Sharma to the cleaners, garnering 27 runs between second to fifth ball of the penultimate over. A couple of boundaries and a trio of sixes, including a no-ball, meant that RCB now needed only 15 off the seven balls remaining. However, Rana got caught at deep mid-wicket, as Deepti had the last laugh.

3. Playoffs locked and loaded

After Delhi Capitals Women and Gujarat Giants Women confirmed their qualification for the playoffs, Mumbai Indians Women became the third team to qualify, as RCB lost by a margin of 12 runs in a must-win game tonight. MI are currently placed third on the table, however, they may dethrone DC from the top spot with wins in both of their remaining fixture.

Who Said What?

They batted positively from the first ball. Last game of the season they come out in a different mood. We pulled off quite well in the last three-four overs. But credit to Voll. The way we started, we thought it is going to be a good season. Last five games, we couldn't live up to expectations we had from ourselves. Played good cricket in patches. Lost a lot of moments in games that cost us. Bit loss to lose out top three wicket-takers from last season. Replacements were good, the way we started, thought we could take the momentum. You think something, happens differently in franchise cricket. The way Richa batted today, really happy for Rana - had a tough few years, but did well as a replacement.

We just wanted to be on our toes because you never know with T20s. Total team effort today. I was backing myself with my stock balls and variations. Sometimes it clicks, sometimes it doesn't. We have been getting good starts but middle order hasn't clicked. Today everyone showed their character. When you win, you see everything in a positive light. Obviously disappointed that we haven't qualified.

It's been really cool experience to play the WPL. Getting here a week ago, been great to know all the girls. Great experience to help our team put up good totals. Probably think back where you could've found the extra run (missing out on a hundred). Overall pretty happy. It was a really good wicket, so we had to get above that 200 and defend it. Have been sitting in those positions in the last couple of games, nothing came my way.
