Gujarat Titans' IPL History from 2022 to 2024: Stats, records, milestones, and more in review
Hardik Pandya became the first draft pick for Gujarat Titans after being released by Mumbai Indians.
The coveted Indian Premier League (IPL) expanded to a 10-team league with the introduction of two new sides. Gujarat Titans and Lucknow Super Giants joined the fray as a new era dawned on the league. Previously Gujarat had a team for two seasons by the name of Gujarat Lions based out of Saurashtra.
Notably, in the newly framed Gujarat-based franchise, star India all-rounder Hardik Pandya became the first draft pick for Gujarat Titans after being released by Mumbai Indians. This was followed by the capture of Rashid Khan and Shubman Gill to make it a very strong team.
Ever since their inception into the league, Gujarat Titans have taken IPL by storm. They made their foray into the league with a win in 2022 and reached the finals the following. Shubman Gill is the new skipper of the side and he will want to continue doing his best for the side with Ashish Nehra as the Head coach.

IPL 2022 – Blockbuster Debut
Hardik Pandya and his Gujarat Titans side made their IPL debut in fine style with a title win in IPL 2022. Rajasthan Royals and Sanju Samson saw the Titans beat them easily to become the new rules of IPL.

It was a sweet vindication for Hardik Pandya who led the side admirably well. With the bat, it was skipper Hardik Pandya, who was the shining light. The right-handed batter scored 487 runs with an average of 44.2 and a strike rate of 131. Mohammed Shami led the charge with the ball picking 20 wickets as he played a key role in the title win.
IPL 2023 – Final ball heartbreak
Gujarat Titans defended their title well as they reached the finals of the IPL 2023 season. In the finals, the Titans came up against Chennai Super Kings in front of their home fans. Ravindra Jadeja broke the hearts of GT fans as he smashed the winning runs to give CSK their 5th title.
Shubman Gill broke the records by scoring 890 runs with the bat during the season with 3 centuries and 4 fifties. The right-handed batter scored centuries against Hyderabad, Bangalore, and Mumbai to have his best season in the IPL. With the ball, it was Mohammed Shami yet again who led the charge with 28 wickets.
IPL 2024- Will GT feel the absence of Hardik Pandya?
Ahead of the IPL 2024 Auctions, there were talks of Hardik Pandya moving to Mumbai Indians. The trade took place just as the auctions ended and the GT skipper was back to his old side. Shubman Gill has been given the role of captaincy in what is a very curious move by the side. Pacer Mohammed Shami is also set to miss the season due to his injury causing a huge blow to the side. Can GT sustain their momentum during IPL 2024 and put it another strong performance?
