IPL 2023: Match 33 KKR vs CSK Preview, Playing XI, Live Streaming Details & Updates
Kolkata Knight Riders will host Chennai Super Kings on Sunday, April 23.
The second IPL 2023 match of the doubleheader on Sunday, April 23 will see the clash between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK). The match will be played at the iconic Eden Gardens in Kolkata. Both teams have faced off against each other 27 times, with Chennai winning 17 times while Kolkata have come out victorious on nine occasions.
KKR will be coming off a four-wicket loss over Delhi Capitals (DC) at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi on April 20. Notably, it was DC's first win in the ongoing IPL after suffering five straight losses. Kolkata have won only two of their six matches and with four points, they are currently placed eighth on the IPL 2023 points table.
CSK, on the other hand, come into the contest on the back of a seven-wicket win over Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). CSK restricted SRH to 134/7 after asking them to bat first, with Jadeja finishing with figures of 3/22 in four overs. MS Dhoni and Co. then chased down the target with seven wickets and eight balls to spare to consolidate their third place on the points table.
KKR have four losses and need to bounce back in their upcoming games to stay in the competition. CSK, on the other hand, have so far played excellently and if they maintain their winning streak, they can scale higher on the points table. The two sides will be bringing a dynamic squad, and the upcoming clash between the two former champions will be exciting to watch.
Pitch and Conditions
The Eden Gardens surface is well-known for its batting-friendly wickets. Because of the stadium's small size, it is a high-scoring venue in the shortest format of the game. Notably, the team which prefers to bowl first has a better chance of winning at this venue.
