An upbeat Lucknow Super Giants will take on a sluggish Royal Challengers Bangalore in the 43rd league fixture of the ongoing Indian Premier League 2023 at the Ekana Cricket Stadium on Monday, May 1. While KL Rahul's side are heading into the home fixture on the back of a record-setting victory against Punjab Kings, the visitors are coming into the game after a disappointing loss against KKR.

The Lucknow-based franchise sent the record books tumbling in their previous encounter against Punjab Kings as their batters assaulted their way to post a mammoth total of 257 runs, the second-highest in IPL history. Barring under-fire skipper KL Rahul, all the other LSG batters were impressive with their power-hitting abilities.

Following a rollicking batting performance, the LSG bowlers did enough to secure a resounding 56-run victory for their side. Meanwhile, their upcoming opponents, Royal Challengers Bangalore, suffered a demoralising loss against two-time champions Kolkata Knight Riders in their previous encounter.

It was a familiar story for the Bangalore-based franchise as none of their batters, apart from Virat Kohli and Mahipal Lomror, managed to play an innings of substance for their side. They need to bring out their best game if they wish to topple KL Rahul's side.

Pitch and Conditions

The previous encounter at this venue turned out to be a low-scoring thriller. The surface in Lucknow is expected to play on the slower side with plenty of assistance for the spinners. The team winning the toss would be inclined to bat first on this venue to take advantage of the freshness of the wicket.

Probable Playing XI for LSG vs RCB

Lucknow Super Giants

While the pitch is quite different at their home venue, LSG will be hoping for another batting masterclass from the top-order batters. However, Marcus Stoinis, who was the player of the match in the last game, is a huge doubt for the upcoming game after he suffered an injury while bowling in the second innings.

LSG's Predicted XI: KL Rahul (c), Kyle Mayers, Ayush Badoni, Deepak Hooda, Marcus Stoinis, Krunal Pandya, Nicholas Pooran (wk), Naveen-ul-Haq, Avesh Khan, Yash Thakur, Ravi Bishnoi

Royal Challengers Bangalore

Even though RCB's star batting trio of Faf du Plessis, Virat Kohli and Glenn Maxwell has been in tremendous form this season, the middle-order has failed to fire for the Bangalore-based franchise this term. Their fragile bowling unit will also be put to the test against LSG's in-form batting order.

RCB's Predicted XI: Virat Kohli, Faf du Plessis (c), Shahbaz Ahmed, Glenn Maxwell, Mahipal Lomror, Dinesh Karthik (wk), Suyash Prabhudessai, Wanindu Hasaranga, Josh Hazlewood, Harshal Patel, Mohammed Siraj
