Afghanistan’s first Champions Trophy campaign
Afghanistan are playing the Champions Trophy for the first time, and went down rather anti-climactically to South Africa. Ryan Rickelton made a century, well supported by three other fifties to take South Africa to a tall total. South Africa's bowlers then took over striking at regular intervals and killing the Afghan chase before it ever got going despite a valiant 90 from Rahmat Shah.
England’s dramatic encounter against Australia
England's opening encounter against Australia, on the other hand, was as dramatic as possible. Ben Duckett broke the record for the highest individual score in the Champions Trophy and led England to what, at the time was the highest team total in the tournament.
