Team India produced a resurgence of sorts with Nitish Kumar Reddy and Washington Sundar’s brilliant partnership. After Australia posted a total of 474 runs in the first innings of the Boxing Day Test, the Indian team got off to a subpar start with Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul departing early.
Yashasvi Jaiswal provided the side with some hope with his knock of 82 runs but departed before a well-deserved ton. Furthermore, the rest of the batters could not amount to much, and with the entire middle order back in the pavilion, Nitish Kumar Reddy and Washington Sundar produced brilliance.
Reddy stayed unbeaten on a score of 105* runs in 176 deliveries, with Washington Sundar adding 50 runs in 162 deliveries. Both batter’s partnership scripted history as in the 147-year history of Test cricket, both No. 8 and No. 9 batters faced over 150 balls each in an innings. Furthermore, with his century, Nitish Reddy achieved the feat of becoming the third youngest Indian batter to get a maiden Test century in Australia after Sachin Tendulkar and Rishabh Pant.
India trail by 116 runs ahead of day 4
Speaking of the ongoing clash between Australia and India, Day 3 of the clash ended with the Indian team on a score of 358 runs with the loss of nine wickets. Despite the brilliant partnership between Nitish Kumar Reddy and Washington Sundar, the Indian team still trails the Aussies by 116 runs.

They will hope to minimize the trail as much as possible. Post that Team India will aim to bundle the Aussies on the lowest possible score and attempt to get a result out of the game. With the series hanging in the balance, the Indian team will be desperate to retain the BGT, whereas the Aussies will be looking to overpower the visitors with another strong performance in the upcoming second innings of the game.
