IPL 2024, Match 69: SRH vs PBKS IPL Records and Stats at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad
SRH still have a chance to make the top two.
In the penultimate match of the league stage of IPL 2024, SRH will host PBKS in the respective last matches of both these teams in the tournament. SRH have already qualified for the playoffs and PBKS are already out.
Incessant rain made sure that SRH's last game, against GT at this venue, was abandoned even without the toss. That result made sure that SRH qualified to the playoffs. They are currently third on the points table, and depending on other results, they can go up to second.
PBKS's season is over, but they will want to salvage one last win and avoid finishing in the bottom two. In their last match, PBKS imposed upon RR's batting. Apart from Riyan Parag, no RR batter could make a hefty contribution. PBKS ran into some similar problems with their top order before skipper Sam Curran took Punjab home with his unbeaten fifty.
The reverse fixture in Mullanpur was a closely contested affair. SRH's top order didn't get going in the fashion they are known for and had an early collapse losing three wickets within the powerplay. Youngster K Nitish Kumar Redddy playing his first IPL game then stepped up with a wonderful fifty that lifted SRH from the rut. A flourish towards the end by Abdul Samad, and Jaydev Unadkat hitting the only ball he faced for six took SRH to a total that looked about par.
Without Arshdeep Singh though, PBKS would have conceded more. PBKS didn't fare much better at the start and were 3-down by the fifth over including a rare stumping of Shikhar Dhawan off the bowling of Bhuvneshwar Kumar. Sam Curran and Sikandar Raza tried to rebuild, but it was once again down to Shashank Singh and Ashutosh Sharma to take PBKS home, but they fell just 2 runs short. PBKS will also be looking to settle some scores with a win here.

Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium Pitch Report:
A precedent exists for a 200+ first innings total here, but that will not come without its challenges. In the early phases there will be help for the bowlers, and then it is likely to steady out across the innings getting easier to bat with dew in the equation.

SRH vs PBKS Strategies & Match-ups:
PBKS has a struggling top order, and with Bairstow unavailable, SRH's strong bowling line up should look to finish this match right there. PBKS's middle order rock Sam Curran isn't available either, so a lot will depend on Rilee Rossouw, Shashank Singh and Ashutosh Sharma on the batting front. SRH will be looking to iron out any chinks they may have right before the playoffs. They do not have any major loss of personnel and will also look at the home ground advantage. The important match-ups for this match are: Abhishek Sharma vs Arshdeep Singh, Travis Head vs Harshal Patel, Heinrich Klaasen vs Harpreet Brar, Shashank Singh vs Pat Cummins, Ashutosh Sharma vs T Natarjan.

Player Battles to Watch Out For:
Abhishek Sharma vs Arshdeep Singh:
In 23 balls, Sharma has managed 34 runs at a strike rate of 147.82 without ever being dismissed against his Punjab teammate in the IPL. In the powerplay, this match-up will be important especially with the nature that both these players approach their game with.
Prabhsimran Singh vs Bhuvneshwar Kumar:
In the absence of Jonny Bairstow, Liam Livingstone and Sam Curran, Prabhsimran Singh will have to shoulder more responsibility. But, Bhuvneshwar Kumar stands in his way. In 10 balls, Singh has managed 15 runs at a strike rate of 150 against Kumar, but has been dismissed twice at an average of 7.5. So he will have to negotiate this battle if PBKS suffer another top order collapse.

X-Factors for SRH vs PBKS:
Sunrisers Hyderabad:
The leader of carrying out SRH's batting carnage this season, Travis Head will once again have expectations attached to him, especially after that freak show against LSG where SRH chased down 166 in 9.4 overs.
Punjab Kings:
With an inconsistent top order, the responsibility of uplifting Punjab's batting will fall to Shashank Singh, whose blitzkriegs will be needed more than ever in this season if Punjab want to finish on a high.
