The two teams that lost in their debut IPL season knockout matches, Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and Delhi Capitals (DC) will face each other in the third match of the Indian Premier League 2023, on April 1, 2023, at Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow.

Delhi Capitals had a good IPL in the recent past as they reached playoffs thrice in the last four seasons and will be looking to take that one final step in the upcoming season to lift the coveted trophy. They will be missing the services of Rishabh Pant, their full-time skipper due to injury. Meanwhile, David Warner is set to lead the team in Pant’s absence. Few South African players will also be missing their initial games due to national commitments.

Lucknow Super Giants, on the other hand, had a very good debut IPL season as they won nine out of their 14 games in the league stage and progressed to the playoffs, only to be put down by RCB in the eliminator. In the previous edition, the duo of KL Rahul and Quinton de Kock put up a world-record partnership of 210 runs for the opening wicket against KKR.

LSG have added Nicholas Pooran to the squad for a huge amount, with an intention to strengthen the already good-looking middle-order. They would be worried about the unavailability of Mohsin Khan due to injury, who was their standout performer with the ball last season.
