Pakistan vs Sri Lanka Head to Head Record in ODI World Cup History
Sri Lanka aim to break Pakistan's World Cup jinx.
Pakistan (PAK) and Sri Lanka (SL) will face off in match number 8 of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 on October 10, 2023, at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad. Pakistan will enter their second World Cup match against Sri Lanka on the back of a convincing 81-run win over the Netherlands.
They were in early trouble against the Dutch at 38/3, but Mohamad Rizwan and Saud Shakeel steadied the ship with a 116-run partnership while Mohammad Nawaz and Shadab Khan chipped in with 39 and 32 runs, respectively to help Pakistan post a competitive total of 286. In the bowling department, Haris Rauf and Hasan Ali picked up three and two wickets, respectively as Pakistan bowled out the Netherlands for 205 to seal a convincing victory.
Sri Lanka will enter the match against Pakistan on the back of a 102-run loss to South Africa in their opener. Their bowlers struggled, conceding the highest-ever total of 428 runs in a 50-over ODI. Despite the challenging target, Sri Lanka put up a spirited fight, thanks to a scintillating batting display from Kusal Mendis, who smashed 76 runs off just 42 balls, including eight sixes. Asalanka and Shanaka also contributed with valuable knocks of 79 and 68, respectively. Notably, Pakistan have an unbeaten record against Sri Lanka in ODI World Cup matches, while Sri Lanka have never lost to Pakistan under Dasun Shanaka's captaincy
