RR vs GT, IPL 2024: Records and Stats at Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipur

In Match 24 of the ongoing IPL 2024, Rajasthan Royals (RR) will play a second consecutive home game and host the Gujarat Titans (GT) at the Sawai Man Singh Stadium, in Jaipur. This will be the fourth match in the 'Pink City' this year. 

Rajasthan Royals are currently the only team to not lose a match and are positioned comfortably at the top of the table. Gujarat Titans, on the other hand, have lost two matches in a row after winning two of their first three matches to be positioned seventh on the points table. Rajasthan Royals will be invigorated after Jos Buttler who was having some trouble with his form came back with a bang and scored a century helping RR chase down 183 against RCB at Jaipur.

Moving on, RR will now be hoping to continue with their winning streak and emulate their 2015 feat of winning each of their first 5 matches. Gujarat Titans have now lost two matches in a row after being in winning positions and that has caused some concerns especially after they looked like they pressed the panic button a little early in tight moments. Hence, the clash between the finalists of the 2022 season will provide some exciting challenges for both sides.

Jaipur has always been a very bowling-friendly pitch providing assistance to all types of bowlers especially early. At Jaipur, chasing is much easier as it provides clarity into the target and the conditions also become easier for chasing. Powerplay wickets are the most essential as the new ball helps the bowlers early on more than in any other phase, and with dew, it will never get easier to bowl in the second innings. The important matchups for this contest are Sanju Samson versus Rashid Khan and Trent Boult versus Shubman Gill, respectively.

These two players have had a high number of extensive battles so far in the IPL. Across 13 innings, the wrist spinner from Afghanistan, Rashid Khan, has bowled 96 deliveries to the RR skipper and dismissed him only once. But Sanju Samson has not gone very slam-bang against Khan yet, scoring only 111 runs at a strike rate of 115.6. Although in the IPL 2023, Samson scored 30 runs in 13 balls without being dismissed across two innings, this matchup will be very important for RR. 

Trent Boult vs Shubman Gill:

Speaking of another sumptuous battle, in nine innings, fiery pacer Trent Boult has bowled 55 balls to the talented batting prodigy Shubman Gill while dismissing him just once. Though Gill only managed to score 57 runs in these games at a strike rate of 103.63. This matchup will be key in dictating the fortunes of not one, but possibly both teams. 

X-Factors for RR vs GT:

Rajasthan Royals: 

RR's most consistent batsman this season and their captain Sanju Samson will again be at the forefront and having the responsibility of enhancing RR's batting display. His innings against RCB were the perfect support for Jos Buttler's hundred and such consistency will be key for RR.

Gujarat Titans:

GT skipper Shubman Gill was the reason for Gujarat Titans' winning position against Punjab Kings before being blindsided by Shashank Singh. His batting and captaincy have been doing well and GT will need him to fire again if they want their first away win of the season.
