Sri Lanka (SL) will take on India (IND) in the 2nd ODI of the ongoing tour on Sunday, August 04, at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.

The first match of the series ended in a dramatic Tie, where at one stage the Indians were looking comfortable to win the game. Thus, the Men in Blue would like to come back in the upcoming fixture with a winning result. On the other, the Lankans would like to make a comeback to winning ways after a very good effort in which they were able to tie the game in front of the home crowd. Thus, the Charith Asalanka-led side would like to grab a win to go up an unassailable 1-0 lead in the series.

In the previous One-Dayet, Dunith Wellalage (67 off 65 balls) played a magnificent innings down the order. Pathum Nissanka also contributed with a handy knock of 56 runs in 75 deliveries, batting under pressure, which eventually helped the Lankan Lions post a decent 230/8 on the board after 50 overs. In the first innings, Axar Patel (10-0-33-2) and Arshdeep Singh (8-0-47-2) were the heroes with the ball, contributing with a couple of wickets, respectively.

When it came to the chase, Indian skipper Rohit Sharma opened alongside his deputy Shubman Gill. While the latter failed to convert his start into a big one, the captain led from the front, and chipped in with an attacking 58-run knock off just 47 deliveries. Post that Axar (33) and wicketkeeper-batter KL Rahul (31) also played well. However, the host bowlers came back superbly to strike at crucial moments, and stopped the visiting side to cross the finishing line by the barest of margins, which led to an agony for Rohit & Co.
